Since the start of the 2023-24 school year, students at Rainier View Elementary have been eating breakfast in class. This change came after adopting the Breakfast in the Classroom program, and the shift has brought positive results.

Beginning this summer of 2024, the state of Washington will launch a new Summer EBT program called SUN Bucks. The program will provide families with $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy food when school is out.
Join us on Wednesday, May 22, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson High School to celebrate the brilliance of middle and high school CTE scholars. The event includes scholar booths, special experiences, and more!

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, a time our district and schools recognize the contributions and celebrate the many diverse and vibrant cultures of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.
For the 2023-24 school year and beyond, all FWPS kindergarteners will visit a college campus as part of a new initiative to expand K-12 college and career readiness.
April is Arab American Heritage Month, a time our district and schools celebrate the Arab American heritage and culture and pay tribute to the contributions of Arab and Arabic-speaking Americans.

Federal Way Public Schools launched the Scholar Art in the City initiative to showcase the artistic talents of scholars in local businesses and organizations.
Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) hosted the seventh annual STEM Exploration Night, attracting a record-breaking crowd of over 3,600. Scholars and families explored science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and learned about career opportunities that lead to high-demand careers in the region.

During DiscoverU, FWPS scholars in grades PK-12 will participate in a week of college and career exploration activities.
Disability History and Awareness Month takes place during October to increase awareness, respect, and acceptance for people with disabilities, and to bring a greater sense of pride to people with disabilities.
September 15 marks the start of National Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month, a time our district and schools recognize the contributions, achievements, histories, and celebrate the many diverse cultures of people of Hispanic or Latinx ancestry who come from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
